Active
Started: January 1, 2025
Expected completion: July 31, 2026
Project Description
This book project explores how ex-colonial languages can be transformed and adapted to the sociocultural and sociolinguistic realities of Africa for the continent's psychological independence. It examines processes of linguistic decolonization, the Africanization of English and other colonial languages, and how these languages can be made to serve Africa's transformative development. The project investigates how colonial languages can be transformed into tools of empowerment rather than continued domination, addressing issues of linguistic identity, language policy, and the role of language in development.
